Ernestine Stewart, LCMHCA, LCAS, LGPC
I completed my Masters program in Counseling Psychology in 2014 at Capella University. I completed my Post-Masters program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Johns Hopkins University in March of 2020. I am provisionally licensed in North Carolina as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHCA) and fully licensed as a Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) and in Maryland as a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor. I hold certifications as a Reiki Master, a Transformational Life Coach, and as a Clinical Trauma Specialist-Individual. I am currently completing a 200hr RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) certification. In addition, I am an EMDR trained therapist. I have been working in the mental health and substance use fields since 2010 as both direct support and counseling staff at various locations. Over the years, I have worked with all age groups at inpatient, residential and outpatient programs. Areas of focus may include but are not limited to: life transitions, caregiver burnout, stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, eating and personality disorders, and relationship issues. I integrate a variety of treatment modalities into my practice, and my approach is client specific, however, I primarily utilize the following: EMDR, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, and ACT. I value having an authentic therapeutic relationship with my clients and encourage their self-agency to elicit feedback regarding the therapeutic process to ensure that their needs are being fulfilled.
I receive supervision from Miranda Layton, LCSW-C, LISW-CP for my Maryland licensure and from John Mattocks, LCMHCS, CCS, LCAS and Shawnta Wright LCMHCS, LCAS for my North Carolina licensure.
